SMS: We request your permission to access SMS only for the purpose of assessing your repayment capacity and verifying your financial status. To protect your privacy, all SMS are first processed locally on your device using keyword filters to identify messages related to financial transactions. We do not collect or upload any content that is unrelated to finance.
From the filtered messages, we collect only the sender ID, message content, and date of receipt. This information is encrypted and securely transmitted to our servers via the HTTPS and is never shared with third parties.
You may refuse to grant SMS permission at any time. However, doing so may affect your credit evaluation score, as we would be unable to include this data in our risk assessment.
LOCATION:We only collect your IP address to confirm that you are logging in from your usual location in Tanzania. This helps us prevent account misuse and detect potential fraud. The information is encrypted and securely transmitted to our servers via the HTTPS protocol ().
CAMERA: To mitigate the risk of fraud or unauthorized use of your account and personal information, our application requires access to your device's camera to conduct real-time liveness detection as part of identity verification. Liveness detection is an essential step to confirm that the current device user is indeed you, ensuring the successful completion of Know Your Customer (KYC) verification and safeguarding your account. Camera access is strictly limited to capturing necessary real-time images solely for the purpose of liveness verification. Such image data will be encrypted and transmitted to our servers() for immediate verification. You retain the right to choose whether to authorize camera access; however, declining access may impact the completion of the identity verification process. This permission is exclusively intended to enhance the security of your account and prevent unauthorized access. By granting camera access, you consent to its usage solely for real-time identity verification purposes, in strict accordance with our data protection policies.
APP LIST:We request access to your list of installed applications solely to help us detect potential fraud risks, hidden malware, or signs of high-risk borrowing behaviour.
To protect your privacy, this process is carried out locally on your device. We use keyword-based matching to filter the application list and identify only those that are relevant for our risk assessment. The full list of your installed applications is not transmitted to our servers — only the filtered results necessary for credit evaluation and fraud prevention are encrypted and securely uploaded via the HTTPS protocol ().
The data we collect includes, where applicable, the application name, installation date, package name, version number, update time, and version code for the relevant apps. This information will never be shared with any third party without your consent.
MOBILE PHONE(DEVICE):We need to access your device permissions to obtain your device information, including hardware details such as operating system, system version, serial number, Android ID, screen size, and other hardware data. This information helps us identify your device and ensure that unauthorized devices cannot act on your behalf, preventing fraudulent activities.
With your authorization, we will encrypt your device information and securely upload it to our servers via HTTPS (). We assure you that your data will not be shared with any third party.
4.2. Information obtained directly from your mobile device:
When you register an account on our platform, we will require some of your personal information. This includes your personal data (full name, phone number, NIDA, residential address, length of residence, marital status, educational background, email, etc.), employment data (employment status, occupation, years of work experience), financial data (payday, monthly income), and your mobile and device information (battery level, phone brand, device name, memory usage, etc.), as well as interaction data while using the PesaX Pro app. We use this basic information to assess your creditworthiness and establish a strong, trusting relationship.You have the right to decline providing this information; however, missing information may affect your credit score. Additionally, providing false information could lead to inaccurate or lower credit assessments. We are committed to not misusing your information, nor will we share it with any third parties. We will also never use your information for purposes unrelated to our business. You may request the deletion of your personal information at any time, and we will process your request accordingly.
4.3. Information from Business Partners and other Third Parties
PesaX Pro may obtain users' personal information through our business partners. This information may include, for example, your name, date of birth, identification number, email address, and phone number, which are necessary for conducting KYC (Know Your Customer) verification.
PesaX Pro may also acquire personal information from other third-party sources, including public and commercial channels. As mentioned above, we may combine information received from our business partners and other third-party sources with the information we collect from you for verification and comparison purposes. This ensures that your information has not been misused and confirms that it is authentic, reliable, and reflects a trustworthy, high credit score user.
5.How We Use Your Personal Data
We primarily use the personal information we collect to assess your creditworthiness and determine the most suitable loan products for you. This includes analysing your application data, financial information, and relevant device or account details to calculate a credit score and make responsible lending decisions.
Your information is also used to verify the accuracy of your payout account details before disbursement. We work with licensed financial institutions and payment partners to ensure that funds are transferred securely and to the correct account.
Where necessary, we use your information to detect and prevent fraudulent activity, protect your account from unauthorised access, and safeguard your assets.
In addition, we review certain in-app activity data — such as feature usage, error reports, and technical performance logs — to identify possible crashes or bugs. This helps us improve the stability, security, and overall user experience of PesaX Pro.

These services help us measure marketing performance and optimise user acquisition, and in doing so may receive device identifiers, installation data, and other basic analytics information.
Where disclosure is required by law or to prevent fraud, enforce agreements, or protect the safety of our users, we may share relevant information with law-enforcement agencies or other authorised bodies. In every situation, we limit what is shared to the minimum necessary and expect our partners to handle that data in line with strict privacy standards.
